What is Difference Between Dofollow and Nofollow Links ?

If you have a website and try to apply SEO techniques, you probably have practiced backlinking on your site. There are two types of backlinks-

1, Dofollow
2, NoFollow

Are you getting confused. Here i will tell you Difference between dofollow and Nofollow links.

What is Do follow ?

Dofollow Link is a hyperlink that is able to tell all search engines to pass along it’s page rank influence to an outbound link.

If you will use or get do follow links then search engines will count your link in the eyes of google, yahoo, bing etc as backlink for your site and you can get some positive value for your site ranking.

Example,
Dofollow Link= < a href=”http://inproblog.com”>

What is Nofollow Link?

Nofollow Link is exactly the opposite. It is a hyperlink that removes the ability to pass on it’s page rank status to other sites.

Nofollow are for not crawling a link by search engine that influence the ranking of a particular website or blog in search engines.

Example,

Nofollow Link=

Or  <a href=”inproblog.com” rel=”nofollow”>Inproblog</a>

How do “Dofollow” and “Nofollow” Links Work?

If you are optimizing your blog or website for search engines you have to get as many links pointing to your website as possible. Dofollow and Nofollow are two important factors among many SEO Ranking Factors.

How Search Engines Use

Ask:
Never adhered to NoFollow. It’s not a search engine anymore.

Google:
They looks NoFollow links but simply does not pass on Google Page Rank to an outbound link that is tagged with the value.

Bing:
Bing may not follow NoFollow link, but it does exclude it from ranking calculations.

Yahoo:
Yahoo follows NoFollow links & excludes the link from all ranking calculations.

That was a nice explanation of do follow and no follow links. The image tells the whole story. But it gets rather complicated when we start taking the meaning in terms of search engine algorithms. Most of the times it is left to the search engines to either regard or disregard the links. If they sense suspicion then even though there is a do-follow link it will be disregarded. Due to the volatile nature of search engines it is very difficult to predict what is going to happen and how they look at a particular blog or website.

I think the best way to do this and improve the page ranks is to just keep providing quality content on the site so that people feel obliged to link to you.
    Thanks.
